I recently insalled Suse 8.0 and was using Red_hat before.I do like Suse for its very good GUI. But the problem is i could telnet ot other systems and no one can telnet to mine.Sice i'm desktop is within intranet there will be no security issue if i enable this option.I tried from past 2 days but was unsuccessful in enabling this option.How to enable this option. [snip...] There are two things: 1. Uncomment the telnet line in /etc/inetd.conf as suggested by a previous poster. 2. Then try to telnet into the machine. If you still can't get in have a look at the tail end of /var/log/messages (you will need to be root to do that). If you find a message from inetd saying that it can't find telnetd this means that telnetd wasn't installed, and you need to go back to the SuSE package and install it.
