Robert, SuSE 8.0 has version 3.0.2p1. SuSE 7.3 has openssh-2.9.9p2-98 which includes essential security fixes. What more do you want from SuSE? They can't possibly provide a new package every time a new version is available; if you like to live on the bleeding edge and have the very latest version then you can always compile it yourself.
