Hello! I am running suse7.3. I think that this must be a security topic, simply cause i did nothing, and i cant login anymore!
I installed a cute mailserver on it. It ran smoothly for about 3Month, yesterday i rebootet. (You should never reboot Linux!)
You should never consider a service configured unless it runs after a reboot :-) Happened to me many times with ftp, cups, webmin, PersonalFirewall, ... I configure the service, start it up, stop it, reconfigure, start it up. And when it finaly works, I forget to set START_XYZ=Yes in rc.config or to put the command someplace it is executed at boottime. Maybe not all servers necesary are running (Can You connect from the host itself)? If so: Have the firewall-rules been re-established after reboot (Does the request come through)? HTH, Stefan
