SuSE-7.0 ftp://ftp.suse.de/pub/suse/i386/update/7.0/sec1/openssh-2.9.9p2-73.i386.rpm
This one wants "insserv". I think it's not part of 7.0 but 7.1
You are right that insserv is not part of 7.0. But: $ rpm -qplv ftp.suse.de/pub/suse/i386/update/7.0/sec1/openssh-2.9.9p2-73.i386.rpm | grep init.d lrwxrwxrwx root root 7 Dec 5 18:54 /sbin/init.d/rc2.d/K20sshd -> ../sshd lrwxrwxrwx root root 7 Dec 5 18:54 /sbin/init.d/rc2.d/S20sshd -> ../sshd lrwxrwxrwx root root 7 Dec 5 18:54 /sbin/init.d/rc3.d/K20sshd -> ../sshd lrwxrwxrwx root root 7 Dec 5 18:54 /sbin/init.d/rc3.d/S20sshd -> ../sshd -rwxr-xr-x root root 1690 Nov 16 2000 /sbin/init.d/sshd lrwxrwxrwx root root 22 Dec 5 18:54 /usr/sbin/rcsshd -> ../../sbin/init.d/sshd $
and later. This may lead to a missing S??sshd link in /etc/rc.d/rc?.d and by this after a reboot ssh may be not started :(
Checked ok.
I would recommend that you really make sure that the syslink does exist and work, just to go for sure, especially if you do not have direct access to the host.
oki,

Thanks,
Roman.
