Hi
I've got a gateway/firewall-, apache-, samba-Server. Everything from Suse 7.0. All ports are open. That works. So far, so good. The problem is, i can't see the server in my intranet (win-clients).
What are my possibilities?

Samba runs, users are configured. When i shut down the firewall, my problem is solved. Steffen
Hi Steffen,
Sounds like your firewall rules must be (inadvertantly) blocking ports 137-139 on the samba server machine. double check that they are open, and will allow traffic in and out. Are you using static addressing on your lan? Is samba binding to the correct interface?
Also, [and I know I risk a few flames here >:-) ] I would advise you to reconsider running samba on your firewall. If it is ever breeched, you run a big risk of exposing lots of Windows stuff to the internet - and that has got to be a bad thing.
HTH, Maf.
