What's about the ipchains module? It's a compatibility module. Load it by "modprobe ipchains" and your old ipchains-script will work fine. But ... (there always seems to be a BUT!) there are some 2.2.x modules like ip_ftp.....o which aren't supported anymore. Perhaps take a look at iptables! It's the new tool you are looking for. Hi, I'm new to this kernel 2.4.x and my ipchains don't seem to work i get an error like protocol unavailable or something, any idea how i can fix it. Or is there a better tool then ipchains? I don't have any kind of security at this point, I own SuSE 7.1 with kernel 2.4.0. Any idea how i can get some security on this box?
