some question about the loggin in /var/log/messages
how can i sort the messages by file from var/log/messages.
Have a look at logcheck and friends. You don't want to read the complete logs yourself, but you still want them to contain all this information in case you need them -- believe me! :> Separating the important stuff from the noise by means of human resources is error prone and definitely will make you do it less careful and later not any longer at all ...
spetially: no firewall loging into messages,
Read "man syslog.conf" and learn which facility and level is used by the program the log messages of which you want to redirect. This works with any other program, too. virtually yours 82D1 9B9C 01DC 4FB4 D7B4 61BE 3F49 4F77 72DE DA76 Gerhard Sittig true | mail -s "get gpg key" Gerhard.Sittig@gmx.net -- If you don't understand or are scared by any of the above ask your parents or an adult to help you.
