I think the easier way to do this is to edit /etc/sendmail.cf and remove authwarnings from the line that says O PrivacyOptions= authwarnings etc and restart sendmail On Thu, 23 Nov 2000, Boris Lorenz wrote:
Hi,
this authentication error is due to the SuSE mc-File (linux.mc in /etc/mail) setup and the privacy flags. These flags help admins to make their sendmail installations a little bit safer.
Look for a line like
define (`confPRIVACY_FLAGS',`authwarnings,needmailhelo,novrfy,noexpn,noetrn,noverb')dnl
in your linux.mc file in /etc/mail and change it to:
"define (`confPRIVACY_FLAGS',`needmailhelo,novrfy,noexpn,noetrn,noverb')dnl"
With the authwarnings-entry, sendmail warns about people that use sendmail -bs to change their local address to something useful/official.
After the change use m4 to create a new sendmail.cf:
m4 linux.mc >sendmail.cf
and copy this new sendmail.cf to /etc. Now restart sendmail and try again, the authwarnings should be gone. Alternatively, change the appropriate lines in linux.mc and run /sbin/SuSEconfig (which installs a new sendmail.cf in case linux.mc has changed).

Hi!
A little weird problem here. I have a SuSE 7.0 box (dell.broeders.yi.org) running sendmail set up to receve incoming email for @broeders.yi.org and dump them in the corresponding local users mail boxes. So now users can pop or imap to it to get there mail.
All working well, but (there's the but ;) , there is a litte error in each message receved:
