Well, SLE kernel doesn't only contains backport fixes, but also backported features.
This is why just thinking in term of version is not good enough anymore..
Tell that to the users... versions count for them, and for some scripts, kernel code, basically everything what was already said last week.
I agree. If someone does a review of openSUSE they are going to run "uname -a" to figure out the kernel version. The story that will be written is that openSUSE comes with a really old kernel. No one writing up a review will go through the trouble to understand the back porting model. Then there will of course be people that cry foul, and rightfully so. However, perception is reality and openSUSE will very quickly be labled as the community distribution with the "really old kernel" even if that is not technically correct.
