Should we create a voting area on the project name?
The openSUSE for Schools looks fine, but as Peter noted, it is not clear what part it will cover, administration or education process, or it will contain both. Although software probably can fit on single CD it would be better to make it separate patterns. One of ideas that worked before is to define what software and documentation should be included: - for school administration: financial, personal files, correspondence, inventory, planning, ... - education process: tests, grades, lectures, communication with students, remote access, planning, ... - software maintenance: instalation, configuration, upgrade, removal, ... - computer safety practices: instructions, lectures, enforcement, ... - data security: access rights management, backups, recovery procedures, ... I can't even imagine all that is necessary, and that is the case with most of the people that will help, but have some start point. Word from people involved in various parts of education will be more than helpful to define goals and attract more interest Next would be to search the software that can help to accomplish above, make some test configuration and let actual users to decide what will fit the best. One of missing facts is statistics about technology level of used equipment. Blindly assuming some will be shooting in the dark. Do you have some resources that can give us the answer on this question? Having above will help us to focus effort on specific software and initiate interest to develop missing. There is a lot of guys out there that are developing n+1 editor (or whatever) , maybe we can attract them by opening projects on sourceforge.net, for instance. -- Regards, Rajko. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org
