When I try to recompile kernel-2.6.4-52-default (from the SuSE 9.1 'kernel-source-2.6.4-52-default.i586.rpm') on SuSE 9.1 Pro with the stock GCC I get an error. First, I do: make mrproper then: make O=/usr/src/linux-2.6.4-52-default-build menuconfig which works without problems, but: make O=/usr/src/linux-2.6.4-52-default-build I get an error somewhere. I am doing all of this as root. The weird thing is that when I compile kernel-2.6.8.1 from ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/linux-2.6.8.1.tar.bz2 with the same commands (except version numbers) it works. Afterwards I do: sudo make O=/usr/src/linux-2.6.4-52-default-build modules_install install and it works.
