This is a x86 SuSE Linux 9.0 with KDE 3.4.1 as Windowmanager I compiled gtk+ 2.6.7 and found out that the environment PKG_CONFIG_PATH leads to /opt/gnome/lib/pkgconfig which makes pkg-config not working for some packages (freetype2,...) because the valid path for them is /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig/. Why would this path lead to gnome? What is the recommend path for this on a SuSE9? Do all packages install to /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig/ ? Is it safe to make PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig/ permanent. Sebastian /usr/bin/pkg-config --cflags freetype2 Package freetype2 was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `freetype2.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable No package 'freetype2' found export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig/ /usr/bin/pkg-config --cflags freetype2 -I/usr/local/include/freetype2
