My network uses private assigned addresses. To enable DNS I need to update the DSN servers in Network settings. However when I save the settings, I get an error "cannot resolve "download.and some more" and this can go on forever. Is there any wat I can update the config file via terminal commands?
It sounds like you are running into the problem where the network card isn't activated properly, and YaST is trying to refresh the update servers. I have no idea why it's neccessary to refresh them when you run the network config. I do know that it's a huge pain with my atheros card, because YaST tried to load the kernal based ath5k driver instead of the ath_pci driver I complied and selected. Therefore, I have to drop to another console and fix the modules and then go back and let it finish, OR I just tell it to skip or ignore, and YaST will finish out. I had a problem setting my one machine to a static ip, which I never got around to fixing. Same machine has Fedora 8 on it and it's using the static ip just fine, but openSUSE 11.0 refused to set it up properly. Also, does anyone know why I'm not getting this list on my gmail account? I'm getting the other lists just fine, but not this one.... :-( --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+help@opensuse.org
