Bob, I've been able to boot suse 9 succesfully on a RS/6000 H50 I bought second hand. I've had a problem with the bootloader when I installed the SMP (multiprocessor) version of the kernel, it gave me 'default catch' errors, but that was solved in the sp2 version. I haven't had the time to install suse 10.1, but if I find the time I'll try it soon. I can't really understand from your post how far you're getting in the boot process. Do you have only one physical disk? If not, did you alter SMS to start from the correct physical disk? What do you use as a console, serial connection or do you have a graphics card in the machine? As Olaf's recommendation I did read through the PPC:Boot pseries info but it didn't exactly state how one would go about accomplishing this feat.
