I'll try if I can establish a build environment on one of these systems. If not, I'll install factory or 13.1 in a VM instance.
osc will create the build environment inside of a chroot jail. Installing gcc etc. into your main environment has no benefit / detriment as far as osc is concerned. You probably want to get the latest version of osc and not the potentially very old version on 11.4.
