Hi Helmut,
thanks for your fast reaction. I am trying, I came so far that "testlibraw"
found my interface card (which makes me rather happy so far) and I am trying
now to grab some video with dvgrab. Don't think my wife will see me much
this sunday ;-)
Do you know if I can find this article from the German Linux-Magazine
somewhere on the internet?
Thanks,
Sander

Hi all,
I want to connect my Sony digital camera to an IEEE 1394 interface on my computer in order to be able to capture image and edit it. I am using a Hercules DV-card from the Hercules DV Action kit.
Hi
my solution with a Pinnacle DV-card:
connect the camera become root (su -l) modprobe ieee1394 modprobe ohci1394 modprobe raw1394 exit
first test with gscanbus grab video with dvgrab
maybe it ist important to use new kernelpatches and libraries, look at SuSE's FTP-Server or here:
list of supported hardware: http://linux1394.sourceforge.net/hcl.php
kernelpatches and libraries: http://linux1394.sourceforge.net/download.html
how to install kernelpatches and libraw1394: http://linux1394.sourceforge.net/start_install.html
gscanbus: http://www.ivistar.de/0500opensource.php3?lang=en
dvgrab: http://www.schirmacher.de/arne/dvgrab/index_e.html
all is described in a article in the german Linux-Magazin 9/2001
good luck Helmut
