Hello, I have recently installed openSUSE 10.2 on my Acer Aspire 3020 with a GigaByte WLAN card (Cardbus 802.11g, model GN-WMKG). By installation I followed instructions found on: http://doube.net/3023wlmi.html What I have done so far: 1) Installed firmware for bcm43xxx (with YaST + executing 'installfw') 2) Installed rt2500 kernel modules (my WLAN card uses rt2500 chip) 3) Configured with Yast the software-controlled (!) WLAN by configuring both the WLAN-controller (AMBIT Microsystem Aspire 3020WLMi using firmware) and the WLAN card (using rt200). 4) Configured KDE to use KNetworkMangager and KWiFi Up to this point, everything seems to work. When I insert the WLAN card, the power led turns on and following lines emerge in the log: ---- cut here ---- Jan 15 20:55:00 XXXXXXXXXX kernel: pccard: CardBus card inserted into slot 0 Jan 15 20:55:00 XXXXXXXXXX kernel: ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:07:00.0 [A] -> GSI 20 (level, low) -> IRQ 177 Jan 15 20:55:00 XXXXXXXXXX kernel: rt2500 1.1.0 CVS CVS http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com Jan 15 20:55:00 XXXXXXXXXX kernel: ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:07:00.0 disabled Jan 15 20:55:00 XXXXXXXXXX kernel: ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:07:00.0 [A] -> GSI 20 (level, low) -> IRQ 177 Jan 15 20:55:00 XXXXXXXXXX kernel: rt2500 1.1.0 CVS CVS http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com Jan 15 20:55:00 XXXXXXXXXX kernel: ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:07:00.0 disabled Jan 15 20:55:00 XXXXXXXXXX NetworkManager: <debug> [1168887300.387790] nm_hal_device_added(): New device added (hal udi is '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_1814_201'). Ejecting the WLAN card brings the computer back to life. When I started 'top' before inserting the WLAN card I noticed that after having inserted the card the process 'event/0' was eating up the whole CPU time and driving the CPU load to 100%. I really do not know how to make my WLAN work and would appreciate any hints! Many thanks in advance!
