When I try to shutdown the laptop when running Suse Linux 9, it will turn off the screen, turn off the hard drive, turn off the fan, etc.
However, the power light stays on, and the system gets very warm where the cpu (processor) is.

(note: this laptop is Suse Certified???) Thanks for any help/suggestions you can offer!
Hm, what BIOS-Version do you have? SUSE Certification is normally for a certain BIOS and a certain product (in this case I assume it's for the SLD). The power-off-problem results from BIOS or ACPI. The ACPI-poweroff-code of the 2.6-Kernel had a problem, AFAIK. But I've seen a HP 6000 power-off completely (I just don't remember if it was an nw6000 or an nc6000). I think it's certified with the '09/16/2003 F.05'. ciao, Stefan -- Stefan Behlert
