This might be a little off-topic, but as I'm just rebuilding the system on my new notebook I do post it here: I have a running SuSE 8.1 on my old notebook. I need the same environment on the new device. I can't just 'dd' the old disk to the new one, because the old system seems a little messsed up du to several upgrades since SuSE 7.1 or so. I just want to have all those packages installed from the 8.1 DVD, that are already on the old system. My first try was a 'rpm -q -a' into a textfile on the old system, giving all the packages installed, then a rpm -i (packagelist) on the new system. That fails due to some unresolved dependencies. :-( Again: I can't use the clone.xml file, because that formats all partitions, there must be some other way.
