Thumbnail about me:
Have been an MCSE since 1997. Been using OpenSuSE off and on (mostly on) for about 3 yrs now starting with 11.0. Selected OpenSuSE as my preference from the beginning due to its better efforts in Microsoft Networking interoperability and AD integration. Created a noteworthy GroundworksOpensource/Nagios/OpenSuSE VMware appliance first in 1997(Updated twice after that) which I gave to the "community" through Bittorrent distribution which included extensive support for monitoring Microsoft servers beyond what was available elsewhere. Have been active in the OpenSuSE Technical Help forums, anyone interested can view my posts (username tsu2). Have used VMware virtualization extensively for many years, am fairly fluent. Also have some experience with Amazon, Google and Azure clouds with some insight into other clouds like Eucalyptus, Rackspace. Also have extensive experience managing Software Development projects, primarily focused on using mobile devices (like PDAs, Smartphones) in Healthcare.
I've given many talks in my region on Password Security, general networking security. Have specialized in supporting Microsoft Small Business Server which indirectly also means that I have fairly good knowledge about supporting most popular Microsoft Server products.
So, as you can see my experience spans much more than just OpenSuSE, with broad experience in other products besides OpenSuSE on both the Systems (Admin and Architecture) and Development sides.
I 'm a big fan of OpenSuSE for all the things it does for me, because many of the things I do tend to be out of the ordinary, I am willing to tolerate a little bit of instability at times to have a chance at doing things that haven't been done before.
Awesome intro. Looking forward to meeting you - frankly I know very little of the server side so I'd love to drink a beer with you and hear some more about that area.
Am interested in a little more detail on those Hackfest days leading up to SCALE, would possibly make time for those also. Are there at least proposed ideas or a wishlist?
Am interested in whatever needs to be done, even setting up a booth :)
We have some ideas. There will be quite some 'strategic' discussions - mostly practical planning actually. And quite some writing, I expect, on things like our 11.4 feature guide, flyers, things like that. And other work on marketing materials like our arguments - which you already participated in, thanks for that! Concerning the booth, help will surely be appreciated I'd say :D
From San Diego,
San Diego! Awesome, been there last Januari :D Nice weather except when I am there, we had rain and lots of it... LOL \> Tony
