"Send PR package to each ambassador " - This is in relation to the PR package. I have a view that the Ambassador program is unable to perform at its best because besides event needs there used to be no default material sent for day to day promotion. If this is to plug that gap, I think it is an extremely welcome move. Am I getting it right? Does every interested Ambassador get a kit?
In the context of this thread, it refers to the 11.3 release materials. However, you are absolutely correct that we need to improve and strengthen the Ambassador program. No doubt about it, we all already agree on that point. Why hasn't it been re-organized yet? Simple. Its a matter of priorities, time limitations and human resources. In my opinion, this is a re-building year for many areas of the openSUSE Project, and the Marketing Team is no exception. We're trying to assess and evaluate where to improve and manage things better but at the same time, we have immediate releases to respond to as well. But we're getting there. :-) I'd definitely like to see more leadership from the Ambassador group and whatever I and others can do the help out to push this along, please do not hesitate to raise your hand. And trust me, the Ambassador program is definitely on our radar, we're just juggling as much as we can with our resources currently.
"Feed social media" - Can we get a widget ready that streams #openSUSE and @openSUSE tweets/dents? This could be put up on the openSUSE site as well as the blogs of Members/Ambassadors and other related people.
If you build it, they will come. :-)
"Open up infrastructure" - If provided with a copy around 12 hours before launch, I could set up 2 or 3 more seeds in India.
We are looking into this yes. We'll discuss with the relevant powers and get an answer to you and others as quickly as we can.
"Publish a selection of screenshots" - Should there not be something up already?
I found some why switch to openSUSE 11.3 posts. Can someone guide me to a why upgrade to 11.3 vfrom 11.2 post?
Zonker, our former community manager, published this article yesterday on Linux.com http://www.linux.com/learn/tutorials/319054-seven-reasons-to-upgrade-to-open... But of course, we need more articles like this out there.
P.S. [OT] I have a doubt regarding [http://en.opensuse.org/Ambassador/List]. 1. is Saudi Arabia in Africa? 2. Why is London in UK for one guy and England for another. Should we not standardise either use of U.K. or of England/Scotland, etc?
Again, part of our cleanup tasks for the Ambassador program. Good that you pointed it out. :-)
Sorry for top posting, but could not find a more suitable space.
Thanks, and glad you're giving such great input. Let's hear more from all of you!
