Things to think about and open for discussion: - Targets -- What are our target audiences? What audiences have been successful in the past and what other markets have room to grow? How do we address this?
I am not actually sure where to get this data from :P . According to openSUSE promo video 11.2 ,I found the below data - Audiences:- This video is most popular with: Gender Age Male 25-34 Male 35-44 Male 18-24 So I guess this might be useful , at least 1% :) . Successful Audience - If I consider India , specifically my state . Then age group between 18-24 had been quite successful with the latest release or the Distribution . As I have maximum reach to this group . IMO there are many markets where openSUSE's footsteps have not reached . But here I would like propose , openSUSE to work in association with some known NGO's global and local both . I know NGO's themselves need funding in order to carry on through there activities . But if things fall right place this can be achived very well . i dont know I may be wrong here but just another "Market" for openSUSE . As people would come to know that openSUSE thinks beyond Apps / RPM's and other such things .
- Resources -- Creating resources such as sneakpeeks, videos (screencasts?), slide presentations, links to relevant information, related artwork
- Collaboration -- Research to ensure we all have good understanding of the features and benefits of 11.3 -- Creating relationships with various teams working on 11.3, including release teams, GNOME/KDE teams, artwork team, etc.
This would be performed well , when the above 'Resources' are accurate . So this thing works hand-in-hand .
-- Internationalizing our markets (making sure our information is relevant and readable across language barriers.)
We can ask the sysops of the localised wikis to help translating the documents , based on urgency .
- Outreach -- Communicating with media outlets -- Use of social media (blogging, twitter, identi.ca, Facebook, YouTube, etc.)
The new Portal:Teams page ( currently WIP) could support this well .
-- Launch Party coordination -- Ambassador coordination -- Begin talking about openSUSE 11.3 early on. (i.e., talk about it at upcoming conferences, etc. even before July!)
For those of you who have thought about participating in the marketing team and haven't yet, please don't be shy! I don't care if you're not an expert in any area. That's what TEAM is all about and we'll work together to improve each others' skills.
Thanks to all, and to all a great 11.3 Release!
