TDE is not without problems, e.g.: http://bugs.pearsoncomputing.net/show_bug.cgi?id=2780 no notification on optical or USB media insertion
That works fine on my systems. I get notifications on both. Currently using my Core2 based laptop with 64bit. My server is still running 12.2 I think, so I don't have TDE on a desktop right now.
http://bugs.pearsoncomputing.net/show_bug.cgi?id=2732 wish option to not create unwanted directories in $HOME
Haven't these been installed by default for a long time? I seem to remember KDE2 doing this. I generally do make use of these directories but not always.
http://bugs.pearsoncomputing.net/show_bug.cgi?id=2658 no icon in menu or system tray for KTTSMgr
Don't use that personally. Interesting. I have seen TDEPowersave & TDENetworkmanager do something similar though. Never thought to post a bug report.
Not filed is the annoying relative absence of menu branches compared to KDE3, too many first level menu items with any significant amount of software installed.
Yeah, I've noticed that as well but I don't use the menu much. Compared to KDE4, TDE is what KDE3 should have been continues as. I switched to TDE after having issues getting KDE3 working properly under openSUSE. I just did a 42.3 install with TDE and was very pleased with it on my Precision 6400 Q9000/8GB laptop. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org
