I would like to have the old behavior of kpowersave or the equivalent in KDE4.
Does anyone have an idea or tip?
I use xfce4-power-manager, myself, along with nm-applet for network management. Not all of KDE3 survived, obviously.

Not all survived, of course. But from time to time I'm developing various things for KDE3. Sometime ago I started to develop a replacement for kpowersave. Unfortunately is not yet possible to integrate it with KDE3 version provided by OpenSUSE.
A while ago there was a discussion here about fixing HAL on opensuse >= 12.3. HAL is necessary for kpowersave.
