It is in package kdebase3-kdm.
The question remains why init 5 gives me XDM login screen instead of KDM3 login screen. 'zypper in -f kdebase3-kdm' didn't help either. 'rpm -e --nodeps xdm' leaves me on a tty on reboot.
Did you read this?
I hadn't lately. I don't see how a 1-click would help unless I'm already in X, which I'm not. I don't login with XDM. The 1-click process is terribly unhelpful in determining what I need that I don't have. According to that page, the only requirements seem to already be fulfilled, as it does not explicitly say the repositories/KDE3:/KDE3 repo is required, while early in the page it says: "As of openSUSE 12.1 KDE 3 desktop is included as officially supported part of the distribution", which seems to mean such basics as KDM3 shouldn't require enabling repositories/KDE3:/KDE3. So still the question remains why init 5 presents an XDM login screen instead of KDM3 login screen. 'rpm -e --nodeps xdm' left me with only startx as any way I know how to get into X until KDM3 is working. It seems to me that kdebase3-kdm ought to literally require whatever it technically requires in order to work, and zypper doesn't make that happen, e.g. a bug. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
