This repo is not hurting anyone if it exists for another year or
even longer.

Outdated and unmaintained packages are not really something to strive
after.

No, but if it moves to regular update channel, then KDS state will be
irrelevant, which actually means URL can be kept just as place for
README.

It would be ideal if one can put in .repo file mentioned README and yast
or zypper printing that out on next refresh, disable repo and offer
removal.

Are you sure people look into the repo for a README file, even in
case it fails?

In that cases helpers on IRC/ML/F will know and clear the mess, as they
do now. Unlike plain users those helpers have habit of investigating
URL and will spot README.

I'd say a blog on planetsuse, a post in the forums and mailinglist
and be done with it.

Problem with articles placed away from software repos is that even when
you know they exist it is not simple to find them and reference to
user. A bit unclean directory structure on download.o.o is small price
to all work that has to be done if README is missing.
