Are you sure people look into the repo for a README file, even in
case it fails?

In that cases helpers on IRC/ML/F will know and clear the mess, as they
do now. Unlike plain users those helpers have habit of investigating
URL and will spot README.

I'd say a blog on planetsuse, a post in the forums and mailinglist
and be done with it.

Problem with articles placed away from software repos is that even when
you know they exist it is not simple to find them and reference to
user. A bit unclean directory structure on download.o.o is small price
to all work that has to be done if README is missing.
