After positive sounding comments about KDE 4.9 I did an update to 4.9. Just found out that Kmail 4.8.5 stops working in this new environment.
What is the status of kmail? Where can I learn more about its progress?
Hi,
I made a acceptable upgrade from KDE 4.7.2 to 4.9.0. No major issues were found after zypper dup -from KR49
In fact,I am writing this mail from KMail 4.9.0 after doing some tinker on draft, sent, template folders (spaces were empty). Those folder were missing and it made no possible to save a draft before those fixes.
OTOH, cover switch effect is completely missed.
I hope next updates help to fix it.
In general, 4.9.0 is full of features, beautiful and faster

Thanks for te info. As I did a zypper dup with KDE 4.9.0 I did not see kmail 4.9.0 . Did another zypper dup just now and the new kmail is not in the list. Looked with the just repaired Yast and it is there . Will make a combined update. First zypper dup and then kmail update with yast.
So there seems something amiss with the zypper dup.
Somebody else with this zypper problem?
Just in case it was forgotten check if you have KDE App Updates repo activated. If does you should deactivate it first to make the trick (zypper dup --from KR49) . Another stuff to check on YaST, it may be activated to keep the old KMail version (so deactivating this option could make a difference). Hope this can help.
