Ok. Since those packages are from packman there is not much openSUSE can do about it. You can report it at bugs.kde.org and refer to the ffmpegthumbnailer package versions. I do not have those packages installed and dolphin does not crash for me when hovering avi files. So either it's dolphin/strigi's fault or the ffmpegthumbnailer's. Or the package you are using was not built against the KDE version you are using it with.
