(...) The first is a bigger patch in the openSUSE Firefox version which can be ported to Thunderbird as well but I'm not sure if it's worth it.
I just wanted the KDE file picker, I found the right setting in about:config of Thunderbird.
? Which one?
There is more than one standard KDE file picker.... I have set ui.allow_platform_file_picker to false, as recommended and now get some kind of KDE or Qt file picker...
That's actually the XUL filepicker from earlier times. It's Firefox' own interface language but anyway if you like it that's fine.
If this is the XUL file picker, I guess you need an addon to get the "real" KDE/Qt file picker!?
I'm not aware of an addon to achieve this but probably there exists one. If you find such an addon please let us know. @Bruno, about porting the KDE patch over to Thunderbird: That should be possible. Do you want to give it a try? Otherwise I'll have a look at it once I find some time. Write me a PM if you want to look at it.
