I just fall in this trying to make it play audio cd's (as it's one of the two apps that are listed by default when an audio cd is inserted).
Amarok do *not* open audio cd's, nor in 11.4 nor in Factory 12.
is it usefull or dumb to try to fix amarok? (I don't know how well amarok is maintained upstream)
The device notifier gives the option to "Play audio cd with Amarok" but it doesn't work, it starts amarok but doesn't play however kaffeine does play. Definitely a bug in amarok, you should take this to the kde list. I'm sending a cc there.
Why talk to the opensuse-kde list if it's an upstream Amarok bug?
Audio CD support appears completely non-working for me with Amarok 2.4.1 too. Audio CDs appear in the local collection _only_ if Amarok is started before the CD is inserted, and even if the CD tracks do appear I seem unable to play them.
I wonder if such basic functionality could really be so broken across multiple Amarok releases, or if it's somehow an issue with openSUSE packaging. Would be nice to know if it's broken on other distributions too.
Then we start with a Novell bug and I'll look upstream for the problem. The other work around suggestion seems to be a clue to the problem. Jdd can report the bug and cc me.
