It can send attachments, it's when you receive one and try to save it. It tells you that the attachment is encrypted and asks you if you want to keep the encryption. If you answer "no, decrypt it" it will save a 0 byte file. If you answer "yes" it will crash kmail. Of course none of the attachments I receive are encrypted. This doesn't happen with 4.2.2, it's only in 4.3 pre.
