Folks are always posting questions and problems to this list (as they should, of course), and I thought it might be nice to post a solution so that it is in the archive. I was having real trouble getting my Sony Clie TH-55 PDA to hotsync with pilot-link and kpilot. For the record, I am running SuSE Pro 9.2, pilot-link 0.11.8, ,KPilot 4.4.5 (Augsburg), KDE 3.3.0, and Qt 3.3.3. I followed all the online help I could find, to no avail. It should work, but it just didn't. Then a kind soul suggested that I look at the permissions of the usb devices in /dev/usb/. It was her belief that they needed to be a+rw for the two devices that the Clie used, /dev/usb/ttyUSB0 and /dev/usb/ttyUSB1. To make sure, I chmod'ed all the ttyUSB devices in that directory (ttyUSB0 through ttyUSB15) to a+rw. I pointed kpilot at /dev/usb/ttyUSB0, set the speed to 115200, the encoding to ISO8859-15, and gave it a shot.
