Since you do not mention which client you are using, I just tell you about cisco. I use Cisco VPN Client v4.6 on SuSE 9.1 and it works like a charm. Since this client builds a kernel module, I had to have the configured kernel sources installed, too, but that's all. I just followed the manual on http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/secursw/ps2308/products_user_guide_bo... But you need client version 4.6, not below, or it will not work with kernel 2.6 like on SuSE 9.1 and above. VPN Client 4.0x just works up to kernel 2.4 Disadvantage: After every kernel update i have to rebuild the vpn kernel module.
