Hello Jake,
Thanks a lot for the advice. I believe too that it has something to do with the XFree because I have another pc with the same graphic card and the same driver and one of them is not freezing at all. So I reinstalled all the XFree rpms and I'm waiting to see if it crashes again. Thanks again for the help.
cheers Hamid
I had something like this on my laptop a while ago, it affected SuSE levels from around 8.0 or 8.1 to 9.1 but not 9.2. Whilst I never actually found a solution, it *was* possible for me to use ssh to log on to the machine remotely, and then close down relatively cleanly with 'su' and 'shutdown'. This worked even though the PC was autistic wrt. Mouse and Keyboard. Unfortunately I can't remember if it only happened if I was running X11/kde or if it also happened when in non-gui mode. Certainly most of the time it happened, I was using the gui. -- opinions personal, facts suspect. http://home.arcor.de/36bit/samba.html
