I think they will tell you, not to enable the new extensions as a workaround and you just have to wait some couple of weeks or months until an update of kde and/or xorg will fix that. But since these new extensions aren't really usable regarding stability and speed optimisation, I think that's no big loss. There are a lot of other terminal allplication (xterm is not bad at all) which work nevertheless.
