every time kde 3.1 starts my icons are spread in a big mess all over my desktop, so i have to sort them again manually.
My take on the subject. ISSUE: Desktop icons keep moving (or even dissapear) REASON: Suse Watcher (tray green circle item) has "ownwership" of these DYNAMIC icons and updates (places) them anywhere it wants on on each boot. SOLUTION: First make copies of the icons: (ie. create 'xxxxx.desktop' config files) to your ~home dir, AFTERWARDS quit susewatcher (round green/yellow/ red tray icon). Now copy these 'xxxx.desktop' config files to your ~home/ Desktop directory, icons will now be preserved. Do not kill Susewatcher before copying/creating 'xxx.desktop' files, otherwise you'll kill these ghost icons too..since root controls these.) You'll find afterwards when browsing the desktop dir. with a file manager, that you now have STATIC 'xxx.desktop' files (in your ~home/Desktop directory) that are YOURS -- and can be placed on the desktop anywhere you want. jk -- Suse Linux 9.0 | 2.4.21-166-smp4G | KDE 3.1.4 | XFree86 v4.3.0.1
