Hello, Cristian, Lee, Lennart and the others...!
I took your advice: I enabled the Konqueror Java Console and I launched the Konqueror from Konsol.
The Konqueror Java Console shows the undermentioned message:
Java VM version: 1.4.2 Java VM vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc. Proxy: :0 java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission /home/mikebela/Anfy/Applet/cfade/canale.jpg read) at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(AccessControlConte xt.java:269) at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(AccessController.java: 401) at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(SecurityManager.java:524) at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkRead(SecurityManager.java:863) at sun.awt.SunToolkit.getImageFromHash(SunToolkit.java:443) at sun.awt.SunToolkit.getImage(SunToolkit.java:490) at AnFade.b(AnFade.java) at AnFade.a(AnFade.java) at AnFade.c(AnFade.java) at AnFade.run(AnFade.java) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:534)
... and the Konsole (whence the Konqueror was launched) shows the following error mesage:
mikebela@linux:~> konqueror WARNING: KDE detected X Error: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) \x08 Major opcode: *
My question: what's the meening of this error message and what's the solution? Thanks for your patience!

Mike, Did you perchance install 9.0 and copy your old settings from a previous install over? That /home/mikebela/Anfy/Aplet/cfade/canale.jpg permission problem almost indicates something like that. Do as Lennart suggested and check the permissions & owners on that file. Plus the last thing you got was the X Error? That's a bit odd, but maybe your graphics are not setup correctly or you have an Nvidia card. Those things continually give problems. I think the easiest way to track it down though is to create a new user and see if the same thing happens when you log in as that user. Do that and let us know how it works.
