Hallo, I faced the same problem. I booted the system from installation CD and let it do an systemcheck / repair. I had a problem with several packets installed and the reiser partition was corupted. I've just updated my system yesterday from suse linux 8.2 to 9.0.
After the installation, i entered my username and password into the kde login panel. Then I pressed the login button, the panel went away and the system hangs. I only see the background, but the kde splash doesn't come. I can't restart the x server with ctrl+alt+backspace and I also cannot switch to the consoles. The only one solution is resetting the system or turn the power off.
Has anyone a solution for me?

Ich habe einen update gemacht von suse 8.2 nach 9.0. nach der installation kommt der login bildschirm. Ich gebe username und passwort ein, drücke login und das system hängt. Ich sehe nur noch den hintergrund, auch der kde splashscreen kommt nicht. X-server neustarten geht nicht, zu den consolen wechseln geht nicht. Die einzige lösung ist reset oder power off.
Kann mir jemand helfen?
