Hi, all -- [I've read the FAQ and see that SuSE does not maintain searchable list archives, and that makes sense since there are other places for that. Is there anywhere where I can pull down posts in original format, however, as is common on many mailman lists?] I have a Toshiba Tecra 8000 laptop with a fairly fresh 8.1 install with KDE 3.0.5, and most things are great (and those that aren't don't really have to do with KDE :-) I see, though, that KDE 3.1 includes vncserver support so that I can use vncviewer to get to my running KDE desktop, which is something I've wanted for a long time. I also see that ftp.suse.com has 3.1.2 RPMs loaded up, so I'm ready to go! I usually use Y.O.U. to keep my system up to date, but that doesn't seem to include the supplementary packages, the "Yast2 can do that automatically" answer from support@ notwithstanding. That's fine; I can pull it down and install it myself. Unfortunately, the amount of space involved is quite nontrivial. I've gotten the applications, base, development, experimental, and int'l dirs of RPMs and shoehorned them here and there on the box, but I'm out of room for sources (but should those be needed for a straight rpm install?). What do I need to have on hand to do the upgrade, and what pieces do I need to install for it -- particularly to get the vncserver functionality? [I really only use KDE as a multiple-desktop window manager and rarely use the menuing system or the office tools, preferring to do the sorts of things I do from an xterm command line); the only thing I *might* bring into play is a palm pilot synchronizer.] If it's possible to only upgrade one piece, that would be of interest. Then, again, I also don't mind uninstalling all of the 3.0.5 RPMs to ensure that I have free space on the drive (currently about 250M of 4.1G free with 3.0.5 installed as from the DVD) if it comes to that. Once I have the right pieces on hand, then what do I need to do? Are there upgrade instructions anywhere?
