This is a know problem (it has something to do with QDNS). It is now fixed in CVS. The temporary work around is to change from CUPS in the printer dialog box to "Generic UNIX LPD System" (this will still use CUPS but through LPR). Another option is to change the order in /etc/hosts. Please refer to this bug report:

Thanks Charles, It's at least nice to know what the problem is, but getting it to work again seems to be a problem. Anytime I start kprinter dialog, the program shuts down with a Sig11. It won't let me make the change at all presently. I looked at /etc/hosts, but did not find anything that might pertain to printing. Thanks at least for the heads up.
