hello,
i have installed the new suse linux 8.2 on two different machines, but graphicscard and monitor are exactly the same.
One difference during the installation was, that i have choosen on one machine to install the packagegroup "all of kde".
On the other machine the fonst are o.k. (in the menus of apps and the kmenu), but on the other machine (which has installed all of kde) the fonts looks not very nice, because the are very small.
Why???
I have installed both machines and then logged in to kde and had not changed anything. So i thought a should have the same look at both machines.
Or is it every time a difference on every machine??? Or is it in case of the package selctions???
Can someone tell me that???
======================= Hi Andre, Even though you have the same graphics card & monitor in both machines, they are still different. That's one of the big problems in the x86 PC world, no 2 pieces of hardware are truly the same! I am guessing they are different motherboards and some other assorted items are different as well. I did the "All of KDE" and the fonts turned out quite nice, so I suspect it was the signals SuSE got while installing that made the difference from your hardware. You could try installing again, but I suspect you will get the same results. Are you running the same screen resolution on both? Check the specs of X in your info screen for both and I'll bet you will see a difference. If they are different, you could try manually editing the small font machine's XF86config file to be the same as the other.
