I assume you know mounting basics and what you want to do with that command. Your kernel sais, that /dev/fd0 is not a valid block device and thus it cannot mount it. Well, as long as you cannot mount your floppy drive, you cannot access any file on it. Your kernel has no such device /dev/fd0, so perhaps the floppy device is disabled in bios or is not or not correctly attached to your mainboard and/or power supply. Perhaps you will check your /var/log/messages for any infos regarding floppy and/or fd0. As soon as the mount succeeds, you will be able to see the contents of your floppy in the mountpoint /media/floppy. Before this, any cd'ing, ls'ing and rpm'ing is senseless. Yes, I know mounting basics as you can see below. mount /media/floppy Altouch this is the first time I did it this way, I always clicked on an icon in KDE. (cd-rom, floppy) It is the first time that I can not mount a floppy, I managed to install an Ogg Vorbis file from floppy. (this file was a Van Halen song :o) Well it does mount, but when I try to install the file the light on the floppydrive coes out. Why this is not possible anymore I don't know, but I find it very strange. Maybe something went wrong during the installation of KDE 3.1, and so my OS is broken. I will look in /var/log/messages as you told me so, and I will let you know what I found. (or not) Greetings, Walter
