If you don't need pixieplus-kde (it's an image viewer, I personally don't like it), then uninstall it first. That's the easiest way. rpm -e pixieplus-kde Another way is to use the rpm commandline option --force when installing KDE3.1, but I cannot recommend this, when there is such an easy alternative. I guess this topic has been asked more than once, but I do have a specific problem. If you don't want to answer my question directly, please refer me to the appropriate archive posting/website.
I have just bought Linux Format magazine with the precomilled SuSE binaries for KDE 3.1 on them. When I follow their instructions:
linux:/home/george/progs/suse # rpm -Fhv *.rpm i18n/*.rpm
the result is this:
file /opt/kde3/share/mimelnk/image/x-pcx.desktop from install of kdelibs3-3.1-46 conflicts with file from package pixieplus-kde-0.3-254
I don't understand why. I have tried renaming and deleting the file, but it still comes up with the error.
If I am doing it wrong please let me know, as I will have to tell them at linux format.
many thanks George
