-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 . I expected this sort of reception. On the same hardware as with Suse7.3, I installed 8 from scratch. I've used Suse since 7.1 . Notice I wasn't "weaping (sic), whining & wailing (sic)". I noted the problems specifically, and without hyperbole. In objective terms, I can't get actual work done with 8, whereas I could with 7.3 . Reasons/issues/problems are far less important than that central fact. I run a mortgage investment banking firm on Suse, and I just don't fscking have time to be bit-twiddling. Wow Carl, You and Steven are beginning to sound like Dennis Powell (dep) in his commentary! Oh, that's not a good thing if you were wondering. ;o)
Simple solution to your problems is either get some good hardware or another distro. It is never too difficult to remedy such weaping, whining & wailing! Good luck on your quest!

. I realise Suse is frantically busy, just doing what they manage to do, and there has always been some shifting of the time cost to customers with all Linux distros... but this is over the line, as far as I'm concerned. This brings Suse into low-quality territory, joining RedHat.

. I've just spent three weeks configuring, and tracking down problems, and at this point I 've got to wave off those with production systems.
KMail is ignoring changes to its config file, and its GPG is not compatible with Windows; Junkbuster doesn't bust junk; Postfix isn't delivering mail; ext3 is slow; Konqsu can't right-click|Edit files; root Panel has forgotten all its contents; this list is dead; permissions scattered throughout the filesystem are wrong; KAlarm doesn't alarm; my AlpsMD5000 still doesn't work in Cups; and ten other significant problems that I'm too frustrated to list here.
I have all the updates. And I'm running K3.0.1 . All the above apps run... but they don't work, for a hundred different reasons that I just don't have time to investigate.
8 is not ready. Beware.
