Is anyone actually using KDE3's KDM on SuSE? If so, how did you get it to work?
Have a look at the Unofficial SuSE FAQ:
Actually, it's not that simple. In my case I had KDM3 running under KDE3/X4.2.0, I had followed the Unofficial SuSE FAQ and everything worked perfectly. I then installed a newer build of X4.2.0 from ftp.suse.com (silly me), and KDM3 hasn't worked since. If I downgrade to X4.1.0, KDM3 works fine, but under X4.2.0 it's seems to be impossible. So, in the end, I am left with a functioning KDM3, but clueless as to how it came about. :-)
