The official Go compiler has fewer problems, but there definitely is evidence from less than 5 years ago that strip will break stack traces -- we disabled OBS stripping specifically because gcc-go stack traces were broken on s390x and ppc64le (back before Go supported them in their main compiler).
Good point. I would be interested in cataloging the set of (package, OBS target distro, platform, lifecycle) combinations that use gcc-go. Not to take anything away from the value and achievement of gcc-go. Only that we may increasingly find our OBS tooling support evolves in different ways for Go and gcc-go.
