Where are the Evolution 2.32 data files? I started to back up the settings manually but realized the old directory (~/.evolution) is empty. Where is the data kept now?
They are now in the .local folder [along with all the other stuff] in accordance with the XDG Base Directory Specification.

Let's see if I'm clear. I should be able to get a full backup of Evolution with the directories
~/.local/share/evolution ~/.config/evolution ~/.cache/evolution
.evolution and .gconf/apps/evolution are obsolete.
In case everything has been moved properly and if you don't see any problem, ~/.evolution directory can be removed. gconf is still used to store account related information for Evolution so you will need to take backup of .gconf/apps/evolution.
What's the reason for the new spec?
To follow the standard basedir guidelines. - Akhil
