Feature changed by: Marguerite Su (MargueriteSu) Feature #310695, revision 7 Title: gag graphical bootloader - Package Wishlist: Unconfirmed + Package Wishlist: Rejected by Marguerite Su (margueritesu) + reject reason: gag is too old and OP's need actually can't be fulfilled + by any "tool". it's a "mind" or "method" stuff. Priority Requester: Desirable Requested by: pier andre (pier_andreit) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: dear developers, I'm a user, simple user, not advanced or power, only simple, one of the problem of a user like me is the bootloader, as simple wannabe better users usually do I have a double or triple boot pc, the first is windows becouse my fear to have a pc which cannot use some software, the second is suse linux with stable repository becouse I would like to learn and work with it and the third is suse linux factory updated becouse my curiosity to try new software is big but the fear to have a system crapped exist. Sometimes happen that I have to reinstall some operative system or I would like to try another distribution, this turn me in a dark tunnel about bootloader, where to install it, which install, does windows and suse restart again? in the past happened the mess :-). Why don't adopt by default a software like this or similar or the idea? GAG, the Graphical Boot Manager (http://gag.sourceforge.net/) it could be improved and installed in a its own separate little partition, it will eliminate the doubt and the choice on where and which bootloader to install, installing the grub or lilo or other in the partition where the new installation is performed and gag in his own dedicated partition. thanks of any attention Pier Discussion: #1: Tim Edwards (tk83) (2010-10-18 14:35:18) I don't understand why this would be needed, grub is already quite capable of booting Windows as well as supporting machines with multiple Linux installs. #2: Roman Bysh (romanator) (2011-02-19 20:15:29) (reply to #1) I also don't understand. The code and the look is too old. + #3: Marguerite Su (margueritesu) (2013-10-28 21:01:48) + Rejected. because 1. Gag is too old... 2. YaST bootloader module can + also graphically tweak your bootloader settings eg lilo, grub2, grub + legacy. 3. Easy or not isn't judged by whether you can install + bootloader to a separate partition. You can also install grub to a + separate partition(separate /boot), but it will not make your life + easier because every distribution will install its own grub. It's human- + being that knows he can only install one grub bootloader and make the + adjustment. tools can't help much on this issue. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/310695
