Feature changed by: Tomas Cech (sleep_walker) Feature #312822, revision 10 Title: Get Enlightenment 17 into openSUSE Hackweek VII: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Desirable Requested by: Tomas Cech (sleep_walker) Developer: Tomas Cech (tcech) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: Enlightenment 17 is good looking, but resource friendly, very well usable desktop environment. Unfortunately it's not present in openSUSE distribution and current state of X11:Enlightenment is awful. As a result, there were several home projects with these packages and no effort to fix current state. I created X11:Enlightenment:Staging project as future replacement of old X11:Enlightenment. I'd like to improve quality of spec files and have better cross distribution coverage. After that I'd like to post result into openSUSE Factory. Discussion: #1: Ruediger Meier (rudi_m) (2011-09-22 14:16:59) I vote for this but please don't remove e16 which comes in enlightenment package currently. When adding e17 we could think about renaming the current enlightenment package and clean up the descriptions to make clear whether e16 or e17 is inside. #2: Tomas Cech (sleep_walker) (2011-09-22 14:38:37) (reply to #1) I don't plan to remove e16 as it is stable project and has its own users. Renaming enlightenment package to e16 would be useful for naming consistency. #3: Ruediger Meier (rudi_m) (2011-09-22 14:50:02) (reply to #2) Maybe throw away enlightenment package completely and call it e16, e17 or enlightenment-e16, enlightenment-e17. So users would not automatically "upgrade" e16 to e17 by mistake. #4: Josef Reidinger (jreidinger) (2011-09-22 15:28:35) This project sounds really good, what skills is required? Do you find useful one more hand? + #6: Tomas Cech (sleep_walker) (2011-09-23 11:13:13) (reply to #4) + Packaging, creating pattern, searching for alternative package names in + other distributions, security audit of tools accessing CPU speed and + bluetooth power, it would be nice to create good wallpaper following + E17 design. If there will be chance, also integration into installer as + one of desktop environment choices. + And for really bored people add EFL support into libyui :) #5: Jan Matejek (matejcik) (2011-09-22 16:35:11) ah, yes. count me in, hackweek is a neat excuse to finally do this -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/312822
