Feature changed by: David Nielsen (DavidNielsen) Feature #307736, revision 5 Title: Evaluate ABRT and use it instead of Apport openSUSE-11.3: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Pavol Rusnak (prusnak) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: ABRT project seems to do the same thing as Apport, but seems better designed and thus is much more extensible. This allows to report crashes also from non C/C++ programs (e.g. Python), report to bugzilla/trac, upload crashes to FTP and so on. More info: * https://fedorahosted.org/abrt/wiki * http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/ABRT Discussion: #1: Jakub Rusinek (liviopl) (2009-12-06 23:07:26) ABRT catches Firefox crashes and automatically reports it. That's great. Especially, when you take a look and notice, that downstream Firefox doesn't usually report them and for this you need to use upstream one (which contains Mozilla Crash Reporter). I didn't see Apport anytime in action. Does it work at all? + #2: David Nielsen (davidnielsen) (2011-04-18 12:22:51) + I've used Apport for years on Ubuntu and it is now very well understood + and solid. The winning feature though is still the server side + retracing which is likely to be costly to implement for openSUSE. In + ABRT this retracing feature has only been implemented in the in + development F15 release and is still very young. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/307736
